Why I'm Voting For McCain
If you don’t vote for McCain you will be handing all your money and liberty over to the Democratic Party. I’m beginning to think that Bonito Mussolini is the real “God Father” of the Democrats!
Key Economic Proposals:
H. R. Clinton:
- $60 Billion funding for new National Infrastructure Bank to finance large scale projects.
- $10 Billion funding for emergency Infrastructure Repair Fund.
- $150 Billion funding for green energy technologies over 10 years.
- Tax Credits to spur retirement savings, $20 – 25 Billion per year.
- $110 Billion to expand health insurance coverage per year.
Funding sources: Reverse income tax cuts on high income earners, maintain the death tax and increase taxes on oil companies.
Obama:
- $60 Billion funding – over 10 years through new National Infrastructure Bank to finance large-scale projects.
- $150 Billion funding for green energy technologies over 10 years.
- Making Work Pay Tax Credit of $500 per person.
- $65 Billion to expand health insurance coverage per year.
Funding sources: Reverse income tax cuts on high income earners, maintain the death tax, increase taxes on oil companies, increase the tax rate on long term capital gains and dividends, tax carbon pollution and he “promises” to end the war in Iraq.
McCain:
- Cut corporate tax rate to 25% from 35%.
- Let business deduct 100% of the cost of equipment in the first year.
- Double the tax deduction per child to $7,000.
Funding sources: End earmarks, budget savings.

Washington DC is the real enemy of America. But the root causes of my concern regarding the Constitution and its enemies were not the subjects of this post. The long-term prospects of America's economic growth resulting in real prosperity are the topic. This requires a less intrusive government and lowering tax rates are an important part. If we don't do it Americans will suffer a continuation of economic stagnation due to the fact that we are less competitive to other nations.
Zak,
I've got no problem with McCain just holding the line on taxes or even raising some taxes on the rich which I'd be happy to elaborate on ad infinitum on request, but taxes aren't a major issue. What's important is that he draws a line in the sand on spending and only allocates more money to present and future wars of his choosing.
It's pure speculation that we will be at war with Iran, Sudan, Pakistan and North Korea. The pork barrel spending earmarks would more than make up the difference. The US defense spending is low as a percentage of the budget as well as compared to our GDP on a historical basis.
It is so wasteful and freedom-limiting.
Damn it, why did Ron Paul have to drop out. He only had 2 issues that I was not in agreement.
At least McCain offers the hope of restraint than no Democrat does, and there's no possible way he could be worse than Bush, but both "Crats" certainly will be, so that's reason enough to vote for McCain - he's the only candidate who ofers any real hope of change.
That said, you're probably right.
The Two-party system seems to be ingrained into America's consciousness. Besides the Republicans and Democrats have passed laws making it difficult for anyone else to get on the ballot. The political class aint criminals because they make the laws.
Where is that bottle of Jameson's my parents brought back from the old country?
The war is so big, the wars are so big, it skews (destroys) everything said here about economy.
Examine McCain's ability to stand up to pressures. Look at McCain year by year and see his constant shifting to please whatever electorate he is courting, to please whatever powerbrokers he is courting. Just look at tax policy. Just look at the Patriot Act. Just look at trade. The guy is spineless, even while shaking his warmongering fist in empty air.
McCain, his past promises, will be just like Dubya, only lots older.
He's still the lesser of Evils, I've lived in Arizona for 21 years and this will be the first time I will be voting for him. I'd vote for Gus Hall before I'd vote for Obama or Clinton. I'm not happy with the Republican Pary in Congress but there is no other alternative, except the Libertarian Party and they are not going to win.
Regardless of who wins this election, we are doomed.
Right Zak. Follow the money.
Doomed? Like we were "doomed" before all the other presidents that people said would doom us? Thank goodness the American people and the American markets are always strong enough for horrible leadership to destroy.
It is really well done and incredibly inspiring to see a country rise up against oppression and start a budding libertarian government.
