If the left image stood alone, I would have assumed the artist intended to spotlight CNN's Roegner.

This cartoon - like many of the best cartoons - appears in cycles, with the details adjusted. Five years ago, the characters labeled in such cartoons as this had different names. In five more years, the characters labeled in cartoons making exactly the same point will have different names.

And the two parties chortle in making fun of the other when it is their turn to be the target of such cartoons.

Don't think back five years, though. Don't think ahead five years!

Math - don't worry about 5 years down the road math. Because, a cartoon about the Obama administration of this type in 5 years will be called hate speech or worse the artist will be put in jail for being an extremist.

Interesting as just a year-a-go this same cartoon would have been titled Left wing loonies.

5 years ago the issue was the legislation to monitor phone calls from outside the US to outside the US but thanks to modern technology routed through the US. Today the issue is DHS specifically naming American protesters as National Security threats. But that is beyond the scope of your consideration.
